my eyesight has really deteriorated over 2 years now, i may need to start wearing reading glasses 24-7 . ive heard eye surgery is very good and eyesight returns to a better state than it was originally. though i cannot afford to pay 3-5k to get this done.

The need for 'reading glasses' is caused by the eye's inability to focus as fast as it did when you were younger. Called Presbyopia, it is generally believed to stem from a gradual thickening and loss of flexibility of the natural lens inside your eye. Almost everyone required reading glasses as they age… some sooner, some later. Managing with the readers...

im that blind , sometimes i need to put reading glasses on to see what is on my dinner plate.
I have a spare white stick (true) DD ,if you're stuck.

Not that it helps you with dinner.
Have you been to your local Eye Infirmary they can do really good work my eyes are checked every 3 months by appointment.
PLEASE DO NOT DO ON THE CHEAP.
I sincerely hope you don't work in a safety critical industry!

Visit your optician and take things from there.
What is the problem going to an eye specialist in the UK and finding out what you need? No way would I get my eyes interferred with on some cheap scheme away from home. They are too precious to be treated like that. I hope that you can get them sorted out at home by a qualified person.
I have a large black labrador, not been trained as a guide dog , but given half a chance he would solve your dinner problem. He is a 4 legged food disposal system and would eat it for you!
Ask your optician about contact lenses. I now have 'mono vision' which allows me to see in the distance and read close up
You only have one pair of eyes..they are not replaceable like some other parts of the body so for goodness sake don't mess with them trying to get something done on the cheap.

I've worn specs since I was 10 years old..that's a good 67 years. I had my cataracts done last year and although a lot better than they were no way are my eyes as good as a few years back.

Please don't mess with them.
Are you safe to drive?
Optical Express advertise LASIK from £595 per eye, and they do 0% finance I think. I've had it done, well over 10 years ago now, and i wholely recommend it. I know some would say £595 is cheap and you shouldn't go for the cheapest option when it's your sight, but they can do it for that as they have economies of scale. Plus I would rather have it done by a surgeon who does it all day every day like these guys too as they are so experienced!
You're going to mess with your eyes..that's your eyes!...to save money? Please don't.

what a fantastic idea ! You obviously need your sight so why not skimp and get a really crap deal - perhaps because they save money by reusing drapes or failing to sterilise instruments between cases....

yeah go for it !
