Well, I have several James Last CD's which contain renditions of works by Verdi, Grieg, Beethoven, Ravel, Zappa, Ives, Elgar, Dvorak, McCartney, Brubeck, Novello, Vangelis, Vaughan Williams, Cole Porter, Donizetti, Rodgers, Vivaldi, Gershwin, Bernstein, Bacharach, Handel, Berlin, Ellington, Guthrie, Paul Simon, Britten.
Tripe?
Not to me.
Sad news - great loss to the music world. We have several boxed sets of his LPs and CDs etc, his distinctive style will always live on. Watched him on TV earlier this year his farewell tour, it was sad as he was seriously ill at that time.
RIP Lasty, when Dubai first began their English speaking tv transmissions there were gaps between the programmes and we had "fillers" mainly James Last, I just loved his Turkey in the Straw.
he made many happy with his music..not to my taste but nevertheless he has left his mark ...in a very nice manner..may he be making music in that better place now....
