I'm trying to reduce my cholestrol. Are steak burgers, made by the butcher, okay to eat. Also does drinking too much red wine have an effect on cholestrol level? Thank you.

Elliemay, they say it is best to go easy on red meat in any form, including mincemeat. Now for red wine, the boffins actually said this is good for you in moderation as it lowers LDL levels which is the bad one.
If you have red meat then not too much of it.
Won't help your reduction aim, but no one need be a saint.
\\\Are steak burgers, made by the butcher, okay to eat.\\

Yes.

\\\Also does drinking too much red wine have an effect on cholestrol level? \\

No.

The relationship between dietary fats and cholesterol levels is a contentious issue. Many experts "might" argue that a diet high in animal fat would REDUCE you cholesterol level.

Don't get " hung up " on this topic, just eat what you will....in moderation.
By and large I agree with Sqad.....except i wouldn’t like to comment on the healthiness of any hamburger (or any other mixed meat product) without knowing what’s in it!

Thank you all. My cholestrol level has increased by 0.4 during the last year and I'm trying to work out what caused it.
"...too much red wine...."

Sorry, you've lost me. :-)

Douglas, I mean more than the weekly recommended units
If i were forced to drink just the weekly recommended units I'd top myself.
