I have had my consultations and booked my surgery, will be undergoing the knife at the beginning of Feb.

Any professionals out there have experience of this surgery and could tell me in there experience what the healing time is?

I have been told anything from 2-3 weeks and I can expect to be back at work - but looking on social media some people mentioned that they were off sick for 6 weeks! Seems an awful long time.

Just as a matter of interest .

After what sort of quantities of food , before you feel full ?

Chips for example

Bazile, after I have healed I will be on 6 ramekins a day of puree until such a time I can add textured food.

The ultimate aim is within a year to be eating 3 saucer size meals a day.
I suppose one of the upsides is that you will be losing weight and the resultant health benefits

The downside is that you won't be able to eat a 'lot' ( more than 3 saucers of food a day) long term ; which could be difficult if you can't have , say a steak and full plate of chips or whatever is your fancy .
Have you thought about a blog. Islay?
Question Author
hc - I had considered it - as my journey actual starts in January with a strict pre op month diet - not sure how to start a blog!

Bazile, eating plate fulls got me into this mess in the first place - I am unable to stop - by having the op I will have to stop.

I can still have steak - just smaller portions
Islay can we do a trade?

I've lost a bucket load of kilos and would much appreciate a few handed back!
I dont know the answer Islay, but well done and the best of bloody british luck, girl.

Lol Eccles I have a bucket load of kilo's to spare - do you think they could do a fat transplant?
When I had a hysterectomy, different op I know, I referred myself to Occu Health who I found to be very helpful and reasonable.....also, because I had referrred myself, the consultation was considered to be confidential and could only be disclosed to my boss with my consent.
Not sure how your Occu Health works, but it might be worth contacting them yourself before your op to find out.
As eveyone else has said, you cannot predict when you will be fit to return to work ...anything can happen after the op, from wound infections to having other connected or unconnected problems....no one can predict when you will be fit enough to return to work. You have to play it by ear.
Good luck with the surgery and the aftermath.
Happy to take 18k!

18 kilos cool now just to get rid of all the rest of it!!!
Sorry to make light, but thought you would appreciate this.

When I was married, my ex heard of a treatment whereby they would take liposuction larger areas and inject into smaller (ahem) areas. My ex thought he fancied this - I explained to him I could not cope with a 37 foot knob........
(PS, a dont come on here after the procedure, you might split your stiches!)

70% of my excess weight in 2 years - would prefer not to say how much I weigh as I know there a people lurking that would use it later!
I recently read about a new procedure - Aspirate. How anyone could even consider this is beyond my comprehension, it would put me off food for life

Question Author
Oh god so you still eat massive meals but then just get rid of them.

Nope couldn't do that.
Islay I'm so sorry - I didn't mean for you to give your weight! Apologies if that's how it came across x
Question Author
OH its OK smow - but if I say how much I want to lose then it will give you an idea how fat I am - I'm not quite ready to admit that.
