I have had my consultations and booked my surgery, will be undergoing the knife at the beginning of Feb.
Any professionals out there have experience of this surgery and could tell me in there experience what the healing time is?
I have been told anything from 2-3 weeks and I can expect to be back at work - but looking on social media some people mentioned that they were off sick for 6 weeks! Seems an awful long time.

The downside is that you won't be able to eat a 'lot' ( more than 3 saucers of food a day) long term ; which could be difficult if you can't have , say a steak and full plate of chips or whatever is your fancy .

hc - I had considered it - as my journey actual starts in January with a strict pre op month diet - not sure how to start a blog!
Bazile, eating plate fulls got me into this mess in the first place - I am unable to stop - by having the op I will have to stop.
I can still have steak - just smaller portions

When I had a hysterectomy, different op I know, I referred myself to Occu Health who I found to be very helpful and reasonable.....also, because I had referrred myself, the consultation was considered to be confidential and could only be disclosed to my boss with my consent.
Not sure how your Occu Health works, but it might be worth contacting them yourself before your op to find out.
As eveyone else has said, you cannot predict when you will be fit to return to work ...anything can happen after the op, from wound infections to having other connected or unconnected problems....no one can predict when you will be fit enough to return to work. You have to play it by ear.
Good luck with the surgery and the aftermath.

I recently read about a new procedure - Aspirate. How anyone could even consider this is beyond my comprehension, it would put me off food for life
