I have had my consultations and booked my surgery, will be undergoing the knife at the beginning of Feb.

Any professionals out there have experience of this surgery and could tell me in there experience what the healing time is?

I have been told anything from 2-3 weeks and I can expect to be back at work - but looking on social media some people mentioned that they were off sick for 6 weeks! Seems an awful long time.

Having to stand over a loo for 20 minutes after every meal and suction out your stomach contents and have a stoma fitted is - I can't find the words.

Oh thanks hc will start that in January 2nd
You could start it sooner - it might be therapeutic to write down what has happened to make you want this surgery, how you feel about yourself now and how you feel about the upcoming op. It's obviously not a fanciful notion on your part.

And remember to take photos of yourself so you can see the changes. Once a month stand in front of a door or upright freezer for the photo for perspective and it will surely help you feel good about yourself. Looking at yourself in the mirror every day will not help you see how much you are changing.

I admire you for having the guts to actually do it.

I don't think I am brave Hc more that I have come to the realisation that I cannot lose the weight I need to any other way.

Which is actually quite sad!
