These medication increase the production of urine .

Is it normal for a person taking them to sometimes have an increase urgency to pass urine , even though the bladder is not full ?

Yes, I take 40mg a day and don't go too far from the loo.

Do you mean increase in " urgency" or do you mean" frequency?"
If you mean the former......then no, diuretics should not be responsible for this, but if your mean the latter, then yes this would be the result of taking diuretics.

I can understand the urgency to pass urine , if your bladder is full and the drug is continuing to produce more urine.

However i'm keen to know why you sometimes have that urgency , when the bladder is not full .
There is obviously some action occurring to force that urgency - i would like to understand the mechanics that's behind it

No.....by "go" you mean with or without "urgency?"

I just have the feeling that we are all getting our facts mixed up.

Urgency indicates a degree of obstruction or infection.
Freqhency without urgency, doesn't.

The person has got go to the loo otherwise he/she will wet themselves , even

I have just read the link but as stated, I take 40mg first thing and spend a couple of hours passing small amounts of liquid. After that the system is back to normal. So yes they can cause frequent urgent visits as I know from experience.

I don't take diuretics but if I'm going out, I have to go to the loo at least five times before I go.

Each time is just a little dribble but I have to keep going. I think that must be a psychological thing rather than a physiological one.
