Emotional?.....you haven't given us much to go on...?depression, ?anxiety...for how long this has been in existence.?

I would have thought that being emotional at certain times.....was NORMAL.
They are the experienced professional and you are the novice the counsellor will know how to get you to talk.

Do you have to go through your tutor to see the counsellor?
Sqad, you are well known for having the empathy of a brick. This young person has recognised they could do with talking things through and are clearly nervous as to how to go about it. Try cutting them some slack. Talking is better than bottling it all up inside.
"Sqad, you are well known for having the empathy of a brick."

Thank you Ecclescake...I will take your advice on board.
Sammyjo, do you mean you are scared to talk to your tutor about asking for a referral? All you need to do is say you would be obliged if they can refer you, obviously in your own words.
Sqad, it wasn't advice, just a statement.
Eccles

" Try cutting them some slack."
That seems like advice.
Sammy, surely there is some form of pastoral care at your college so you don't have to reveal more than you are comfortable with by going via your tutor?
Agree with Barsel.
That isn't what you quoted though Sqad. Derailing Sammys thread is serving no purpose, let's call it quits?
see your doctor not your tutor
Many schools, colleges and Universities have counselling services MM. Why not use what is on your doorstep?
And much quicker to get to see than through a GP!
Just say what you feel. What you're experiencing, what's troubling you.
And considering Sammy's tutor probably knows him/her much better than his/her GP

Thankyou for your comments I just don't know how to start and bring up the conversation of seeing the counsellor, I have been through a lot as a child.
It isn't easy but as others have said, find the person in charge of Pastoral Care - they will be used to your uncertainty.

Simply say 'I need to speak to someone about my feelings'.

Don't be embarrassed and if you blush it really doesn't matter.
I'd be very surprised if all this information isn't available to you without speaking to a tutor. Have you looked at all the student notice boards? helplines etc should be on posters for all sorts of things like counselling.
