Can over-cleansing actually bring out spots? What's the best way to avoid this? Can you keep pores closed?

Over-cleansing will not create spots, which are caused by blockage of skin pores by excess sebaceous oil. Over-cleansing will clear the excess oil, but also strip away the natrual layer of oil required to keep the skin moist and supple, and protect it from other foreign body infections, which can result in cracking and soreness. The best option is to have a word with the skin experts at your local Boots or similar chemists who can advise you on the best care for your skin type.
