Ginger Hair
64 Answers
Would you research whether your partner had ginger "genes" before beginning a long-term relationship with them?
I ask the question because a lot of ginger children suffer low self-esteem due to bullying etc, and, the reality is, going through life with ginger hair can be a distinct disadvantage to many people. In some countries, such as Denmark, they turn away ginger-haired donors due to a lack of demand.
When planning a family, is this something you would take into consideration?

I have been asked in for far fewer auditions since then, so clearly red hair isn't a hold back to work. If you are going to worry about what other people do and don't find acceptable in your children, might I suggest you don't have any, because kids need strong role models who instill a sense of confidence in them, not someone who considers trying to eradicate gingers from their gene pool because they're scared of other people. How about eradicating cowardice instead and not breeding, that'd be more beneficial to humanity. What a stupid question.

I can't claim to be ginger, Spungle but, until it began to fade recently, I had striking red hair and there was never a time in my life I wasn't happy to be a red head.
My disappointment was that neither of my children were fortunate enough to inherit my hair colouring...one is black haired and one blonde......they just look like lots of other folk....I never did.....
Another advantage of red hair is that it mostly ages well and attractively...... :-)

Our daughter has the most fantastic ginger, now going a bit darker, hair, inherited from her paternal grandmother. She did suffer a little at primary school but is now so proud and confident about it she has been known to dye it even redder/darker.
Went to Tokyo when daughter was 16, 5' 8" and proper ginger. People were walking into lampposts, shop windows, almost having car accidents just to look at her. They would stop her on the street and ask to touch her hair or have a photo with her.
Let's say she is proud to be ginger - as anyone should be.
