I know the retina inverts and turns left to right, but what happens in the case of retinal bleeds? When you have a retinal bleed which seems to be on the lower right, is it in fact lower right or top left?

Similarly, is the consequent detritus and spattering inverted?

I know it won’t help the vision much, but I’m interested in what’s going on.

Do you know........I have no idea.

My guess it is in the exact quadrant on the retina, that you perceive it.
It is a theoretical question,as retinal bleeds are diagnosed by retinoscopy ( retinoscope) so in simple terms the occulist is looking "straight at it".

Ah, in that case a lower left bleed sounds as if it’s ‘true’ lower left.

Maybe if Peter the Pedant shows up he can throw more light on it, as I believe that apart from being a landlord and a pedant, he is also an eye man.

The last time I had a ‘big’ bleed, I ended up with a reservoir of blood which SEEMED to reside at the top of my eye.

It doesn’t help drainage, but I like to know how my misbehaving body is doing...

I hope that you are not getting confused with what is known as a subconjunctival haemorrhage which fills the white of the eye with blood and looks horrendous.........in fact it is quite harmless.

Wish it was sqad. No, we’re talking about full vitreous haemorrhages - I’ve had a few over the years. Had extensive laser this past year, but we missed a bit, which ‘went’ the other day.

Not total, still plenty of useful vision, so a ‘lucky’ one (all things being relative) and it will drain (all things will pass).

My other eye is blind, which is a bind, but things could be worse!
