One of my front crowns snapped off whist eating a wafer biscuit yesterday. Do you think the dentist will be able to glue it back whilst waiting for a new one to be made. I don't want to go out of the house, I look like a witch when I smile. And, I'm talking with a bit of lisp.

Happy days!

they took mine off and fitted a temp one while a new one was being made
(hope you have deep pockets,)

Tell me about it. £269, and the other three crowns at the front are the same age, 23 years old. I’m wondering whether to bite the bullet and get them all renewed at the same time.
What Derek said. I have a temporary one at the moment. I must be doing well - £269 for a replacement crown with a new tooth attached to it to bridge the gap where one of my front teeth was until it had to come out!
depends whether there's enough of the tooth left to glue it back on - if the tooth snapped off too, you might be lucky to get a crown at all. If one of the others is next to it you might be able to get a bridge.

23 years is very good.

Oh God! Don’t say that Jno. I’ll be looking at an implant. Noooooooo
Monty python sketch:
just a liddle waffeeeerr!

means that the crown was on its way out - the others may be.
as the dentist. - and they can be matched together etc....
I've got a mouthful of implants, rocky - much my most reliable teeth. Was there a bit of tooth inside the crown when it came off? This happened to me a couple of months back, not enough root left so it had to come out, but I'm getting a bridge as the crowns on either side were also getting a bit wobbly but still have sufficient roots to hold crowns.
Use some of that Gorilla Glue. Fixes anything, so we're told! And probably much cheaper!
But who wants to look like a gorilla ?

They couldn't put it back as it was my actual tooth that had sheared off. I have to get fitted for a denture, tomorrow, then have a think about what I want to do long term ;(

It's gonna cost, I can feel it....
you're not wrong. I like my implants but it pays to shop around, some charge much more than others. I'd be tempted to leave mine to jno jnr in my will, except he's in his 30s and has never had so much as a filling.
Question Author
I’ll see how I get on with the denture, though I’m not gonna hold my breath. I’ll resort to the implant if I have to.
rocky - Sorry in advance but I can't resist saying "If the denture fits properly you won't need to hold your breath. You should even be able to speak normally".

:)
Feel for you. Ginge is moaning about his teeth and all he's thinking about is the cost. Nuts!! He's just spent 3.5K on a sofa, Paid a plasterer, new furnishings and I've just told him I'm booking two holidays...and he complains about the cost of a dentist. He'll pay for it when he crying with toothache.

Lol. It’s so true. When I first had the crowns done 23 years ago, they cost £600. A colleague was horrified that I’d spent that much on my teeth whilst she spent £300 on a coat.
Weird isn't it? Teeth are so much more important than spending a weekend in Ireland with a cousin you haven't seen in years :-)
Question Author
At the moment, there’s not much I wouldn’t give to have a tooth magiced into the front of my mouth.
I bet. Even if it's not painful it makes you self conscious.
well, it does seem weird that three implants cost the same as a second hand car; but they're more useful in the long run
