Only if you are over 75 and receiving pension credits.
Yep, as Fanriffic says, over 75s will have to pay unless they’re on Pension Credit.
My dad and my husband were both quite peeved. They’d had it free until now.
Tell your pal he's wrong.
Your pal is right though in that if an OAP doesn't pay this 'voluntary tax' it is unlikely they will be caught and forced to pay
Aren't the politicians and BBC management still arguing ?

I’ve decided to not pay and just wait and see.
My friend (83) has been informed by letter that she will have to start paying for her TV license from June. I advised her to check this out as I'm sure she is on pension credit but didn't want to pry.
Might it 'come up' in the Budget?
