Wont this be a bit like, shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, as this cornavirus has already been spreading, wont it be a bit late in the day now.

How many footballers are ever carted off to hospital of a Saturday?
And as others have pointed out, there’s horse racing, rugby league, lower grade football going on anyway.
I think the idea was that if you cancel the events then you would free up people who attend these events anyway. It seems a bit premature to worry about it now.

It doesn't have to be a big event. A long-planned 'New-to-You' sale at the Community Centre today(I was helping) went ahead (only 1 reported case in our county). Last thing planned before hiatus. Rang one of the ladies who was there to ask about something at about 6.00 p.m. and got her husband...… she's in bed with a dry cough and feeling unwell! Not happy, will have to wait and see; it was the last thing (apart from picking up kids on Mon.) before semi-isolating. Fingers crossed, but events don't have to be huge, in fact small things like this will spread more subtly and not attract attention.
