Wont this be a bit like, shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, as this cornavirus has already been spreading, wont it be a bit late in the day now.

No....gathering at big events is more likely to spread it. It could get 10 times worse if these events, flights, etc weren't cancelled.
It's complete cobblers. It's not the way to stop a virulent disease. It started with a few cases in China and became worldwide in a matter of weeks. The governments are trying to use a water pistol to put out an oil well fire and people self isolating has the potential to wreck the world economy.
I don't know how they are going to decide what is a 'big' event. 50? 500? 5000?
@14.00 whats your answer to it then zac?
APG - I think it would depend on the venue.
Let it burn itself out. Fatalities are few and even symptoms can be minor.
The Government didn't cancel them.
Racing's on today.
^ Glad your not advising Boris.
Self isolation makes sense: either to protect yourself if you are REALLY patient, or to protect others if you’re already ill.
Some of the measures do seem to be too late but the idea here as I understand it is to stop it spreading too quickly. That tho does mean a longer period of crisis. One danger of having a shorter period of peak is also that it might encourage a second possibly deadlier second wave before enough people are immune

That is the advice the PM is following
The National League, NL North and NL South are all still taking place. Just jad a quick look at the average gates in those leagues and the highest is Notts County with approx. 5.5K.
Zac said it was cobblers at 14.00
There's zero proof that we can't recontract the virus so self isolation might well be useless. The prolonging of the situation might well be the worst thing to do i.e. The disease is irradiated in 99.9% of the world but the remaining.. 1% starts the whole cycle off again.
That’s right Ken.
Only “elite” football not happening.
Which is one reason it’s v frustrating the N Irish premier is off as, love it as as I do, it’s hardly “elite” tho the crowds are not bad these days
As I said in another thread - I've been poorly for over a week. I don't want to go out, to the pub, to the shop, anywhere.
But you can have it and not know.
^Zac that's the case for most viruses, that's why we have a vaccine for many because they will never burn their selves out as you say.
Self isolation is largely to stop others getting it.
So in that regard “immunity” is irrelevant.
Although it’s not proved that you can’t re-contract it, it seems a reasonable bet. And furthermore if it IS recontractable (and it probably would be for future strains) then all the more reason to delay it until a vaccine is developed and tested.
As I reported elsewhere a new rapid testing pack has been developed on N Ireland and ought to be in general sale in days
So what's the point of cancelling big events and telling people to self isolate?
