I know many (most?) people here and in the UK don’t give a flying one about the welfare of the animals they stuff into their mouths, but for god’s sake, read this article and at least have pity, if not feel shame!

Poor helpless creatures, living in a hell with no hope.

The problem here is that this is an anti Brexit article written by a left wing rag trying to bash chlorinated chicken.

It's a shame because the problem is very real and nothing to do with chlorinated chicken. It's generally down to poor farming methods and management and is around the globe. The vast majority of farmers dont work like this, in the long run they loose out - what's the point of killing or deforming your asset?

I don't think they lose out at all ymb. Once, some activists photographed the way Bernard Matthews turkeys were treated, it was pretty vile. He never lost out did he?
what's the point of killing or deforming your asset

isn't killing the asset the whole point of chicken farming?

It's hardly a pro or anti Brexit article, it's just written by animal welfare people about their specialty; you either agree with them or you don't.
Maybe it was fixed?

The problem with 'activists' films is they are not always entirely true. It's very easy to cut the bits you dont like or dont portray your beef.

Like I say if you destroy your asset long term you are not going to be in business long.

jno, the sub title is" Chlorination of hens and use of pig sow stalls among disparities highlighted by charity ahead of post-Brexit trade talks"

Did you even read the article?
"what's the point of killing or deforming your asset

isn't killing the asset the whole point of chicken farming?"

Yes, unless its for eggs. However you wont sell dead chicken to the wholesaler will you?
I don't agree it was fixed. Do you really think cruelty doesn't take place? Of course it does, more's the pity.
And why would activists make things up, they wouldn't have to film under cover if everything was hunky dory?
yes, I did, ymb. Isn't that factually 100% correct? There will be trade deals after Brexit and the US wants us to take their chlorinated chicken as part of theirs. The writer of the article doesn't think we should.
Poor creatures.
You wrote: "It's hardly a pro or anti Brexit article"

The sub title at the top is "Chlorination of hens and use of pig sow stalls among disparities highlighted by charity ahead of post-Brexit trade talks"

How on earth can you say it is nothing to do with Brexit. We all know the underlying message here, it's been spouted enough.
"Do you really think cruelty doesn't take place? "

My post at the top of the page "It's a shame because the problem is very real"

MAke your own mind up.
ymb, all trade talks are now post-Brexit trade talks, right? Are you suggesting nobody should mention this? Or are you saying we should take chlorinated chicken from the US? Or what?

You really are a sorry specimen of humanity, aren’t you.
The standards of animal farming outside of the EU was always going to be a problem after Brexit. I don`t want to eat antibiotic infused beef from the US for example. I always buy British when it comes to meat but some people are guided by their pockets.

It’s not about Brexit, or petty politics. It is about suffering, and whether or not you’re bothered about other creatures’ suffering. You’re not bothered? Then some of my pity goes to you, too, even though you feel no shame.
^ Is that directed at me? The reason I mention Brexit is because as we source foods from outside of the EU, then the meat that we buy will not be subject to the same standards that we comply with now. So you can keep your pity and your "shame on you" comments to yourself because you have completely misunderstood my take on the situation.
Wow, Allen, just wow. It really is people like you who give vegans a bad name.
Oh god, is he a vegan? I wouldn`t have bothered replying if I had known that.

What a load of presumptuous toss.
