Sorry, but just trying to help my mum.
She was discharged from hospital yesterday into my sisters care.
She's been assigned carers again twice a day but she's deterioated so much in the last couple of weeks.
Had to go over to my sisters this afternoon to simply lift her in bed (now totally bed ridden) as she was in so much pain and couldnt even get a few inches up the bed.
She's admitted that she now needs around the clock care, either in a Dougie Mac or an oncology ward. But her biggest fear is dying alone.
Also had to get a district nurse out to her tonight who gave her 2 injections. One for sleep and one for pain relief.

Question is, if she were to be admitted to either DM or oncology, would she be allowed visitors? Or is it (like her recent stay in hospital) dependent upon ward managers?
Thanks.

If a DM operates as a Hospice they may well be geared up to allow visits for end of life patients but you would only know by asking really.

It's very difficult to cope at home sometimes.
the hospice near me is allowing visitors, but i guess you'd have to ask them

//It's very difficult to cope at home sometimes//
As we've just found out Mamy (or more specifically, my sister has)
Didnt realise how downhill she has gone in 2 weeks...not eating etc
Read this, Nails. It will apply to the DM hospice in Longton.
Assuming you could get her in there.
Good that she is home. Cannot answer re visits in care but she needs proper pain relief. If she can be managed at home better for her but hard on you and you sister. If the district nurse is good she should contact the doctor for adequate pain relief to be given every so many hours and with emergency dose available should the need arise. Best wishes and good luck to you all

Thanks bednobs.
A glass of Sherry or whatever she likes might help the appetite. We had this prescribed to patients on oncology when I was nursing
So sorry to read this nailit. It must be a desperate situation for you and your sister, not to mention your mum's pain and fears. Think a few phone calls would be in order but feel your best bet (visitor wise) would be a hospice with more relaxed rules. Take care x
