Well, having never had it before and being diagnosed over the phone (our doctor isn’t seeing anyone face to face) I’m assuming she is correct. Either way, the pain when passing urine is absolutely horrendous - I’ve never known stinging like it. And the whole area is burning and feels raw. It’s hurting just to sit down. Doctor has given me Canesten cream but is there anything else I am do/take to ease the pain? Sorry for delicate nature of question x

When I have had it, I sit in a hot bath and drink glasses of water whilst in there and yes, wee in the bath. Sorry for this lol It does work and the relief is wonderful. Antibiotics obviously are good but I didn`t always want to take those.
Agree with the bath and weeing in it. Shame you don't have a bidet! Don't laugh and no comments please but do you have a large bowl you could put warm water in to sit and wee. It really does help. Don't put of going because it burns. Drink plenty of water to make your urine as dilute as possible

Glad to hear you are antibiotics Smow. You'll feel an improvement in no time.
Well I'm glad we got to the bottom of that! :-)

I hope you feel much better soon, Smow.

Not having a brilliant few weeks am I.
Had it several times at one point in my life. Antibiotics are the only answer - even then you may get ones that are not particularly effective. Don't give them more than a day or 2 before getting back to the doc.. A different antibiotic should clear it.

it is horrendous, I agree - drink lots and lots of water - it helps a bit.
I used to get infections on regular basis and usually had to get antibiotics but until I got the prescription I used to take a half spoonful of bicarb of soda in warm water in a teacup , I found it helped take the sting away until the antibiotics started working.
Question Author
Am going to try the bicarbonate.apart from the horrendous stinging, and now upset stomach, I spent all eve throwing up. Poor mr smow ended up sleeping in spare room.
have you got your anti biotics???
Question Author
Morning Emmie. Yes I got them yesterday afternoon. They’re meant to be taken with food which I didn’t realise till way after taking first lot and by then i felt so sick I couldn’t eat anyway. It’s a 3 day course but doctor says I may need a second course.
take them with water, try and keep them down, they will help..
Bi-carb as old fashioned as it seems, really helps Smow, tastes unpleasantly salty so gulp some water down after it , in fact, drink lots of water throughout to flush the infection out
