Skin Tags

Recently I have developed a number of skin tags mainly around my neck and a couple on my shoulders. I was wondering what causes them to develop and is there a way to prevent them and to remove the existing ones without surgery?

I remove mine by twisting in a clockwise direction until it hurts then repeat the same until the tag turns red. This is cutting off the circulation to the tags which should drop off in 2-3 days. Another way is to tie cotton tightly around the tag and just leave it until the tag drops off. Good tagging:-))
I was told by my GP to tie a piece of cotton round them really tight and which would cut off the blood supply to them and they would eventually just drop off. Because these were on my neck and would've been visible if I'd done it this way, I used to twist them round and round with my fingers and squeeze them and eventually they dried up and dropped off. It was a bit sore doing it this way though but it did work.
Believe it or not, Scotchgard Duct Tape is an effective way of removing warts if left on for two or three weeks. However, with the neck area being visible I'm not sure this would be a practical solution for skin tags. I've got one or two myself and don't really fancy having to live in polo necked sweaters for a month to see whether this works but if you're brave enough to try it and find it successful, let us know and I'll give it a try. Guess the best way to do is cover a couple of them with Duct Tape as a pilot test and then put the usual skin coloured Elastoplast plaster over the top.
hmm, i don't think it's an old age thing. I'm 20 and have quite a few. They're caused by material or jewellry (necklaces etc) rubbing against your skin. For example I have one above each armpit, most likely caused by my bra straps. I usually find that a strand of hair is better than thread because it's thinner. If it hurts too much try using an ice cube over the area first then wrapping the hair/thread around it and just leave it for a few days.
