I think you're referring to coetaneous tags? Actually, treatment is not necessary unless theyre actually irritating you or could possibly be cosmetically inappropriate. Sadly, the creams do not work. The only real way to rid yourself of them is through cauterisation (electronic burning), or cryotherapy (freezing). They typically manifest in people who are mid-aged and have a tendency to propagate on larger people, especially in areas where there is an amount of excessive moisture.
Last year I had a couple of tiny ones on the back of my neck. I have a chain Ive worn most of my life and they were irritating me as they rubbed against the chain. My daughter used a simple can of air, such as the type youd buy at a photographic shop, to dust of a camera lens. She turned it upside down so that the Freon (or whatever was in there) froze the tag, then with a swiss-army scissor that had been swabbed in isopropyl alcohol, she simply cut them off. I couldnt feel a thing and theyve never come back.
The reason the creams dont actually work is that the tags begin their growth beneath the epidermis and therefore have a root. However, once cut, they rarely tend to grow further.
If you are among the unfortunate with literally dozens, it may be beneficial to have them removed by laser treatment. You would need to speak with a dermatologist about this.
I wish you best of luck. Fr Bill
