Having recently joined the permanent medication brigade (in my case blood-thinning Clopidogrel and cholesterol-reducing Atorvastatin) and slowly coming to terms with the repeat-prescription process, I began to wonder how many other Abers are under a similar life-sentence.

One to ask if the received my prescription from the surgery. They say yes, then say they have to order it. Two, A couple of days later you go to pick it up and it’s not ready. Three, finally collect the meds. My doc will only issue 56 days at a time, so I’m doing this every 8 weeks. I can’t go to the main chemist, Lloyds, as they say their wholesaler can’t get the medication.

Just a low dosage of Rampiril, the min, for blood pressure and Purinol for gout - though I am on a research programme which involves quarterly blood to see if there is any impact on my liver and kidneys, following a huge hike in triglycerides etc having picked up something in somalian water many years ago, my levels now back in order but having taken the better part of 20 years to rebalance.
