Yes, except for the odd black sheep. Must buy some mint sauce ...
We are given our relations, thank God we can chose our friends
Not all of them.
Some of them, maybe ..
I wonder if they would choose me...
Lol choux. :-)
What about you Naomi?
Some maybe. I don't get on with my dad as we constantly clash but I'll always love him.
We have so few relations on my side and one on my husbands side, Discounting my son and wife. Probably one cousin who is my friend too but we live at a distance. I have only one friend and confidant and we don't have a large group of friends, but some very good aquaintances.
My one true friend and confidante lives in Spain. We are a true couple of soul mates and talk for hours. Really love each other.
My mother is my best friend, so yes. She wasn't the best mother but we reinvented our relationship.

I'm not that bothered about the rest of them.
The grim reaper keeps cutting us down but those left still out number the friends I have. Whenever we do meet up (usually for funerals) we do get on well and I remain fond of them all. If they were my friends I would contact them more often, sadly that is true.
I have precicely 4 cousins, one of which lives between Australia and UK and one of which we don't hear from any more. I have one Elderly Aunt in a care home. I have stopped seeing them because of health reasons and the fact that they live down south. My husband has a sister but she's at a distance too and although we keep in touch we haven't seen her for years. I suppose I am fond of them but only one I would call a friend.
Sadly, no. They are not bad people, just annoying and stress inducing to the point where we avoid them as much as possible.
The only people who matter to me are my daughter and her partner, and my brother and his family in the States.
There are numerous cousins, but none of them showed a bit of interest when my brother was recovering from sepsis, so they can all take a walk...I wouldn't recognize a single one of them if I met them on the street. Brother on the other hand had kept in touch. No more.
pasta, you have made me think more about this. I think the question is either flawed or I have interpreted it incorrectly. If I didn't know my family why would attribute to them characteristics, traits and the like that would usually come to light after a period of time knowing them?
Most of them nope no ways never
Very interesting question naomi.

Honest answer is NO!
None of my family can be considered friends.
Had friends visit me both in Psych Hospital and Prison
during difficult times.

During 4 prison times I had ONE visit from my mum.
(at the same time a visit from a GF)

During 3 psychotic hospitalisations I had ONE visit
from ONE of my sisters....

Previous to this I had been their 24/7 for (the other sister).
Visiting everyday etc, in psych hospital, looking after her kids etc.
She couldnt give a fig when I needed a bit of help myself!

I dont want to be a selfish person, but can't help
wondering why not!!

Perhaps we are all selfish by nature...

Anyway, My friends are not my family....

Most of them, though I had a aunt who was a right evil cow & I'm glad she's dead.
// I'm glad she's dead.//
If it were possible,
I would love to have a 'glad that they are dead' post!
Just dont think that its possible!

just so many 'woke' mods about...
