How do I become registered to conduct a civil or religious ceremony?

My friend is getting married in the next few years and would like me to conduct the ceremony. We have heard that it is possible to be trained up in a religion or as someone who can conduct a civil ceremony but we dont really know what we are doing or where to look. Any suggestions?
