I have had a nightmare that has totally freaked me out. It was about my dad and he was murdered in front of me in our living room, we knew in the dream that it was going to happen as someone was after him. The part that has and still is upsetting me a great deal is that i wasn't allowed to help him when he was dying, the person who did it smashed my phone and had people outside the house so i couldn't get help. I've never had this kind of dream before where i can't stop thinking about it. Does any one have any ideas about what it means or how i can get it out of my head?

Hi ashleymewes- sorry you had such a disturbing dream I have them quite alot and have done since childhood. I believe that dreams are your worst fears but they have no relevance and dont mean that anything bad is going to happen. Its just your subconscious mind playing tricks on you. Try not to worry too much about it I hope it doesnt upset your day
Ashley - I posted a similar question a few weeks ago - that I have terrible nightmares several times a week.Things like my son drowning,me getting stabbed etc etc. They totally freak me out but there is no logic to them.I had a lot of reassuring answers so if you type 'nightmares' into search on here ,then you will find a helpful website about dreams. Please dont be upset - try and have a good day.x

i have been having the same dream about my dad dying since i was a child, my big sister made me feel good by saying " every time you dream of someone dying they live another day longer".... i know she made it up,but it felt good anyway!!

i know have the same dreams about my son!!

I have dreams like this where I have no control over the situation ie: in a runaway vehicle & I can't drive; knowing that something dreadful is going to happen to someone I care about, I can see it coming but am powerless to warn them etc. In other words 'I am out of control'. These nightmares usually coincide with situations in my waking life when I'm worried about something either at work or in my private life that at that time I'm trying to find a solution to - hence the 'out of control'.

Ooooh... spooky... I had a very similar dream 2 nights ago involving my boyfriend. Some evil nutter was going to kill him, but it wasnt going to be a quick death. And I also knew that this guy was going to torture me whilst my boyfriend was forced to watch. It was awful. I woke up in a panic and woke my boyfriend up to tell him because I was really disturbed by it.

I dont think these humid evenings help much. I cant seem to cool down at night and when Im hot and bothered I usually have very vivid and unusual dreams.

thanks for your answers. I'm still having trouble forgetting it though. It's just the fact that my dad was so calm when the man came into the house to kill him, he was just sat there drinking a cuppa and then the man just stabbed him in the groin so he bled to death, slowly, even then he didn't panick, he just sat there. It's like he knew he had to die and there was nothing i could do. I really can't get it out of my head and all my work collegues think i'm going mad because i can't get over it. all of the dream website say that dreaming of death means either issues with loved ones or a new beginning, but neither relate to me.
ashleymewes. Do you watch gory blood+ guts horror films? If I watch one tho' it does'nt bother me at the time you can bet your boots I'll have a vivid upsetting nighmare involving my loved ones and this can be up to 2days after I've watched a film. The instinct to protect our loved ones is always there even in our sub concious when sleeping.
