Has anybody heard of this or know anybody who has done this? A woman I know from the school gates, has lost 6 stone in 5 months and looks incredible. When I asked her how she had done this she said she had done the Lighter Life plan, which involves no food at all apart from their bars/drinks and water. It is very very strict - but they do insist you get your doctor to give you a medical before they allow you to do it,and you have 1-1 counselling every week.Is this plan a new thing then?

I wasnt gona do it Bex - dont think I would be able to stick with it for long, and they apparently dont let you do it unless your BMI is over 29.

the link below is for their website

It seems long replies can't be posted at the mo, irritatingly enough!!!!!!

Kazzianne - just wanted to add: got a LighterLife mag from Tesco last week 2.90 It seems it has been going for a while as some of the counsellors have been 'qualified' for several years.

Purpose - oh,ive never heard of it before.Have just read the link that Philandlil posted, and it seems very well run,but god it would be hard to stick to!!

Lol... well they all seem to have lost 6 stone in 5 months... can that be healthy...? Or am i just jealous...?

They must exercise like mad cos there don't seem to be any baggy bits, either!

OMG - i just went to the site.

They are on 500 calories a day!!!

No wonder they are losing weight!!!

Question Author
well this woman I know looks fantastic too! She reckons you choose 4 meals a day from shakes, bars and soups, and loads of water. Its very expensive though.

Well, it's tempting me... apart from the fact it doesn't FEEL right!

Now, correct me if i'm wrong - but i thought that if you lost weight THAT quickly, your skin is less likely to get a chance to 'fit' again. I thought that to stay toned, you had to lose weight slowly while exercising...?

I have weight to lose but don't want to rush it for this very reason.

Question Author
I agree Purpose - but I think probably that most people who did this would do some form of exercise at the same time if they were aware how quickly they were going to lose it - I would anyway! Did you see that Dr Hilary Jones from GMTV supports it?

Does he? I lost connection and can't get back on the site.

I wonder how one would fare going from eating bars/shakes etc to 'real' food after the desired weight had been achieved. I think i would just go mad and eat loads... lol... prob not a good diet for me, then!

Its cambridge diet with a modern name, works brilliantly, but don't be fooled, when the weights gone, give it a while and see how she is???
Question Author
it does say on the site what you do afterwards - some sort of maintenance plan but I will have a look in a min and find the website address again for you.
Question Author
Zara - well the lady I know has kept the weight off for 4 months so far - is that good or bad??
Question Author
www.lighterlife.com

I think that's definitely a positive start. I'd struggle with 4 days.

The mag keeps repeating itself that it is 'for those with 3 stone or more to lose', so i guess it is far less beneficial for those who just want to lose, say, a stone.

I feel all positive about being on my own diet now, having discussed this subject - so thanks kazzianne!!

Question Author
im not sure why you have to have at least 3 stone to lose, maybe because your body would tolerate it better.

This sounds cynical, but i'm not sure it's supposed to - they do say that the larger you are, the faster you lose it, so perhaps people with 3+ stone to lose see more 'success' within their 100 days.

I'm still curious about the exercise side of it though. The mag doesn't say ANYTHING about exercising.

Question Author
have you tried the website again?? I will look later - I do know that they give you counselling/therapy every week to find out why you overeat/drink to the extent that you have at least 3 stones to lose.
