I once gave my number to a guy, and as he was tapping it into his mobile he turned around and apologised for his mobile saying, "...I lost my other one and have a new one coming out to me." I thought it was an irrelevant thing to say, and also quite pompous. It actually put me off him!
But if we're talking about the original mobiles where you carried a crate around with you and had to wind it up then that's a whole other story!!!

ive had my phone for about 4 years, its a samsung thing and im actually quite attached to it. i'll only upgrade when it stops working, which unfortunately won't be far away as the buttons are wearing out.
a few people have said stuff about my phone but it really doesnt bother me id rather spend my money on something more interesting

Pretty shallow to judge someone base on their mobile phone.
I use to have an old Ericsson GF768 up to last year, but the battery weren't charging and the antenna snapped off, so I was only force to buy a new one otherwise I would have stuck with it. As long as it can revceive calls. Who cares!
One great advantage of having an old (crappy) mobile phone is that you less likely to attract thieves.
