They were in fact produced as an orange drink, but someone decided to put one in the ice cream freezer and lo behold frozen jubbly.... Lasted ages didn't it?

Lonnie, I remember 1d lollies, where I lived the lovely old gentleman that owned the sweet shop used to make his own lollies, so there were many different flavours..spearmint (bright blue) springs to mind! delicious.

They were similar in shape to Lik Lak lollies, the very first to be lightly coated in fruit juice flavour and the most delicious creamey ice cream (3 tier shape)..better than any Mivvy or fruit/cream lollies...

Now onto the sweeties.....

Jamboree Bags 3d....mixture of different goodies, little toy, wierdly wonderful caramels, + various other delights!!

Palm Court Toffee, never ending choice of 2 diff flavours in one slab (divided in 8 pieces).

Frys Crunchie (not todays variety) similar to thin slab of chocolate bar, again in 8 tablets, with a honeycomb crunch.

Everlasting Strip....long and thin unusual tasting toffee bar...
did what it said on the packet..lasted forever!!

Joby1, I remember Bazooka Joe bubble gum....I sent off for the special fan club goody pack,,,,it never arrived, boy was I upset...switched my allegiance to Double Bubble (which had a slight perfume taste and was bright pink!

Trying to decide on the way to school, which jar of sweets to chose from.....Although they sold them by the quarter, they always let us buy 2ozs (pocket money was diff then!).
Amongst the favourites:

Chocolate limes, aniseed twist, sweet peanuts, sherbet pips, cola pips, rosy apples, Aztec bars, fruity blue ice lollies, jubblies, sweet tobacco (shredded coconut covered in crunchy brown sugary stuff), fools gold chewing gum (little yellow nuggets in a little drawstring pouch), Old Jamaica (rum & raisin) chocolate bars, bottles of Corona cream soda (5p back when you returned the bottle), Milk Tray choc bars, blackjacks, mojos, refreshers chews, love hearts, fizzy spangles, galaxy counters, pacers, shrimps, milk bottles, flying saucers (made out of rice paper with loads of sherbet in the middle), Ice Breaker, Buttersnap (like Dime bars & I seem to be the only person I know who remembers them), Caramac, jamboree bags, aniseed balls, sherbet lemons, peanut brittle & those chewy toffee peanut rings, Army & Navy paregoric, Victory V's, sherbet fountains, Texan bars.....I could go on and on.......Oh, I already have!

Still got all my own teeth too, even after that lot, LOL!

Aprilis- I remember all the things you mention, yes even Buttersnap. Also you say about getting money back on Corona bottles, my friend and me used to drink as much Corona as we could in her mum's house and then scoot off to the shop quick with the empties to spend the money on sweets, it was ages before her mum cottoned on to our scheme.

Sherbert crystals...all those different coloured and flavoured sherbert was awesome and all for 5p a qtr.

Some of the big gob stoppers were awesome too and if you managed to get right to the bottom, there was a disgusting little seed there !!!

horselady - people where I used to live back then stacked all their empty fizz bottles in their front gardens by the bin. They would regularly 'disappear' and we'd go and get the money back and have a sweetie feast over the park! I was totally innocent until the other little tealeafs showed me how to do such things! ;o)

yes - wonderyears - I think I can - but was it also something that we called tobacco - which came in a little packet and was sweet - a bit like coconut, but looked like threads of tobacco ? Or was that something else ??
