it is hilarious, the guard was probably letting barney play catch with the bears, it's very well written though, that reporter knows how to add gravity to a story that is really just a load of ole fluff.
HAHAHAHAHA that made me laugh1!! y wud it be a tragic waste, find the humor in it it wasnt anything particually important just an expensive teddy... i found that highly amusing...what did u thin caz21??
oops sorry justr read the title you found it funny!!! my bad..
yer I found it funny. I'm sure even in that state some mug will pay thousands for it.
i like the "frenzied attack" bit. quality.
Sorry, I laughed !

Money - Money - what is it for ? Surely not 40,000 for a teddy bear, that's plain wrong.

Just meant coz it belonged to Elvis it was worth a hell of a lot for a teddy!
The "tragic" reference comes from the way the story was written... they had devastating injuries!

Made me laugh!
LMAO!! God thats funny!! How on earth can a bear be worth that much!
Side splitting. Loved the quote: "Heads pulled off, arms, legs here and there, it was a total carnage really "
That's hilarious! I hope they don't take it out on poor Barney!
elvis is gonna be pi$$ed when he comes looking for his bear.
"arms and legs everywhere" he he that made me laugh out loud!!!! x
Maybe the Elvis bear had a faint aroma of cheeseburger?

yes I laughed..oh, the irony!

Steiff bears are always a fortune, especially the rare ones as it was made in 1909, but i reckon they've added 25k coz of it being Elvis'!
hardly news is it?
FS, it's a teddy bear
This was in the Metro I picked up earlier. The bear had also been bought by Sir Benjamin Slade, and only lent to the Wooky hole museum. I love the quote that the general manager gave

"I have apologised to Sir Benjamin but he just yelled at me. He couldn't believe this happened".
Aww when I read this earlier on I fell about laughing.. I just pictured this dog ragging the bear around thinking to himself..... not so special now are you? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... lets see how good you look if I do this!! . ( rips of an arm) and this... ( tears off the head) hehehhee.

My fav quote is ..."I was just stroking Mabel and saying what a nice little bear she was." Is this guy for real? talk about rubbing the dogs nose in it!

40,000 tho, lol... that poor doggy's gonna be on white labelled dog food for years!!
what about the end quote ?

The spokseman said "Barney's future was uncertain" lol

Poor barney!

Supernick, is that the free paper on buses and train stations? thought they only did those in west yorkshire?
it was the 'some received more devastating injuries' part of the quote which tickled me!
