daycream - To protect the skin from the harmful surroundings by producing a barrier. I.e sun, pollution and leaves it radient and soft. i was once told its like keeping a sandwich in clingfilm, keeps it fresh (if you dont use the sandwich goes all dried and horrible)
Nightcream - Has all the nutrients and actually does the work! i.e anti aging... firming, putting nutrients into the skin (hense its richer!)
I am sure they now do allrounders, but thats the general idea anyway.
Hope that helps

For years I believed everything the beauty consultants told me about using special creams for day and richer creams for night, then I heard a leading dermatologist speaking on the radio more or less saying what rubbish it all was having special night and day creams..... and that the skin cannot tell the time anyway.
This revelation has not only saved me a fortune but my skin is breathing a sigh of relief as the richer night cream was causing a few problems. I use very tiny amounts of Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme or Daywear Plus, but you need something just right for you - any of the Lancome products are brilliant. You will need a couple eventually to ring the changes as you would your shampoo but stay clear of 'night cream'.

Hello smurfchops. No it doesn't have a strong perfume but I would say if possible go to a good department store and try out the products first before buying online as the consultant will guide you as to the right one for you.
These creams are perfect for my very sensitive skin, but you might need something a bit different. The same company, but a different product. Lancome is especially good for sensitive skin, I would be inclined to try there first.
