flying abroad from the UK
3 Answers
Hi there
I am flying from London to Hong Kong on saturday (braggin', braggin', braggin.....) and am really worried about getting told off re the whole hand baggage thing. I've read the BA website, but still feel a little uneasy...
so, people, talk to me about the restrictions and new unrestricted restrictions re hand baggage and flying from the UK....am I allowed to take a flight bag now or still only a see-through sandwich bag?
many thanks
p.s I'm very nervous, does it notice? My friends told me that as I'm nervous I'll probably get stopped by all manner of officials as they will think I'm a baddie as I am so nervous....Maybe I should cancel the trip?
many thanks, still
love

Congratulations on Hong Kong... been there, done that, but you'll certainly enjoy it. Don't worry overly about any carry ons. Just make sure that those things you might need, such as toothpaste and other gels are also packed in your checked luggage. Just remember, no jokes about possible explosives and if you see some one you know named Jack, just say "hello, James"...Enjoy!...
you can now take drinks and liquids on board with you but only in small quantities http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6108546.stm
but as Clanad says, put some spares in your checked luggage too if you have any doubts. You can buy toothpaste in HK, but medicines might be harder to come by so try to keep them with you.
Don't cancel, it's going to be great.

Thanks you guys, I feel a little better today knowing that I will still be able to take a puzzler and pen with me on the flight...I was really nervous about being bored!
I used to Live in HK when I was a little girl so can't wait to see how much it has changed. I came back just before '97 so the change will be massive! I hope the street names haven't changed too much as I'm really going to look forward to Temple Street market, if it still there.
I don't need to take any real liquids with me, but do need to take food as I am a coeliac. I hope that will be ok. Oh, well, I shall have to wait and see I guess, it's a night flight, so maybe I can just sleep. I checked out the article you gave me so will purchase a tape measure tomorrow to check that the bag I'm taking fits within the required measurements and make sure I don't take any formular milk as I really can't stnad the taste of that and wouldn't wnat to be forced to drink it to prove it's bonafideism.
thanks again you two; 2 days to go till lift off, YIKES!
