Is there anyone out there who previously was an atheist but has had an experience that made them think there is GOD?

My friend is an atheist on her bad days, but will suddenly become spiritual/religious just before exams, interviews etc, saying things like 'if there is a God, then I'll pass... etc etc' and if all goes well, she'll stay in that happy/spiritual phase until she has yet another bad day...
(she's a little confused, I think that makes her agnostic then?)

Agnostic - One who doubts truth of religion. We don't say God does or doesn't exist, because you're claiming to have a definite answer on something which is impossible to really know. More and more people seem to be thinking about it for themselves and realising what it's all about.
I'm sure there's a couple of atheists that have turned to God because of some experience.
I can't prove or disprove Santa exists... but when I came downstairs I saw crumbs all over the floor so he must be real!

I can't imagine why any atheist would want to do that.
A religious person is one who, against all reason, has made the decision to believe in a supernatural being for whose existence there is not a scrap of evidence. No doubt he has his unfathomable reasons.
An atheist is merely someone who, for simple, everyday, routine, rational reasons rejects such an idea. My non-belief in God is no different from my non-belief in Santa Claus, fairies and Cinderella. Simple commonsense. It would be just as absurd for me to go back to believing in God (which i did as a child) as to goback to believing in all those other magical things. Why go back into the dark?
