Homosexuals
32 Answers
Now I may get in trouble for this but I'm gonna ask anyway, and before any homosexuals get on my back I have many gay friends so I'm not meaning to sound stereotypically but I just wondered if there is some connection between gay people and their voice boxes? as most gay people have girly voices, and often the boys who's voices never broke at school turned out to be gay. This is not meant to offend anyone.

Not ignorance, in fact I bet many people have wondered, and Im just open enough to ask it. I dont judge anyone or stereotype anyone, I just wondered why most of the gay people I have met do, and why when people hear a man with a high pitched voice do they assume hes gay, for these people to assume this there must be some connection. Thats why I asked, you say youre not offended but you come across as if you are. Most people on here know me by now and Im just very inquisitive. :-)

The image of a gay person as an effeminate man has been the product of typical gay TV and film roles (who can forget Beaumont from It Aint Half Hot Mum, and Mr Humphries from Are You Being Served?), even though these characters do not represent the whole of the gay community. On television, the gay man is often seen at extremes providing slapstick humour and flamboyant theatrics to straight viewers. I think Marco and Kemal of Big Brother.fame(??) did wonders for that stereotype. This one-sided view of gay life has led to many misguided gay stereotypes, and it seems, led to a disassociation of male effeminacy (femmes) by masculine gay men. Flamboyant gay people just get more attention.
I think most people would acknowledge and recognise and I am sure 4gotmenut is one of those that this is not ALL gay men nor indeed ALL effeminate men are gay. The way someone looks or acts is by no means an indication of their sexuality but some people would prefer that the way they look or act sends out exactly that signal. Similarly the somewhat obtuse phwooarr missus language of builders and the like is the analogous hetero stereotype. And I certainly don't do that.

omg it seams we have sliped back into the dark ages ! I have never seen such a stupid question im my life !!! i think your question is so so so far off the mark that it worries me as a gay man that people are so blind to what is happening in the world !! I dont have a "girly" voice and im gay does that mean im not gay ??? i think you have watched way to much tv and need to go out and meet a lot more gay men !
