Hi, I had NLP [see paul Mckenna], for emotional problems following the break down of my long term relationship. This involves a certain amount of hypnotherapy, but includes being tapped [physically] on certain places on the body...head, shoulder, wrist. I found it a really good, if some what emotional experience.

I had hypnotherapy to help me to cope with my son's fight against brain cancer. It was something I at first didn't want to believe in, but being worn out from my own fight against bone cancer at the time, I finally gave in and accepted help. I also had hypnotherapy after my son sadly died. If you fight it, it won't work, but if you go with an open mind, it most certainly does work and I can highly recommend it. Just be sure you go to someone who is a licenced practitioner and has a good reputation. Best wishes.
My wife had some hypnotherapy sessions to help her cope with her nerves on our wedding day. She said it worked, as when she went arrived at the church she suddenly became calm. I remained doubtful and wondered if she was marrying me in a trance. My mates kept clicking their fingers.

Anyway, my wife says it worked for her and I often believe what she says.
My first wife had a pathological fear of spiders (arachnophobia), which at times left her effectively paralysed with fear if she saw a daddy longlegs in the same room.

She had several sessions with a hypnotherapist, and the initial results were very good. The effectiveness did seem to wear off a little over time however, and she did talk about becoming edgier again when she saw a spider. Never did find out what happened over the longer term sadly, because we separated and lost contact not long after all this became an issue.
I had this several years ago to help me cope whilst in a bad marraige (-which i didnt realise i was in, at the time). I was a total bag of nerves, had no self confidence or self esteem, hated myself and basically wondered why i was even alive. I went to and paid for 6 sessions -which cost a fortune - and finished with a cassette tape that i had to listen to as often as possible - used as positive affirmations, i now realise. I have to be honest - i was quite sceptical it wouldnt work and it didnt.
There are many books available on positive thinking, affirmations and how to be happy with what you have or how to change your life. The best piece of advice i was ever given was this:-
Your brain doesnt know whats good for you or whats bad for you - so you may as well feed it positive ideas about yourself rather than negative ones.
Years after my hypno experience i trained to be a facilitator for courses in positive thinking, helping people to overcome their perceived obstacles and to realise their own potential. We can BE or DO anything if we put our minds to it. Visualisation is an important factor in this tho and some people are unable to do this (eg. if you are autistic, asperger sufferer). Hope this helps.
i know someone who had hypnotherapy for smoking, it actually worked, he said that for six months smoking was horrible, but he carried on just so he was not beaten

My wife helped me with a form of positive thinking, NLP and meditation to quit alcohol, hard drugs and general nastiness of character and it worked very well. I'm with angeldraws, you can do anything you want to do, but it's such a glaringly simple concept that it's actually quite hard to grasp. Once I grasped it, my life changed fantastically.
