I snore like a road drill/Harley D - so wifey says, but last night i woke my self up. Is surgery the only way out? am getting fed up - so's wifey - and just longing for a good nights sleep - any ideas? sleeping on sides or stomach doesn't help

If you stop breathing altogether and then breath in with a huge snore, this could be sleep apnoea (not sure of spelling) and can be hazardous to health, see a doctor. I hope this helps.
Katejess - wifey has tried the plugs - apparently I'm too loud! & Woofgang none taken. I guess it's a combination of losing a bit of weight, laying off the booze & fags too. Woe! my uvula - or whatever the dangly bit at the back of the throat is called is also longer than normal [when i put my head down, I can sometimes feel it touch the back of my tounge - which isn't nice], so I don't suppose that helps either. Will give the spray a go too. The plasters & plastic nose clips don't work. Guess it's a combi of everything & a visit to the docs. Thanks again
i found these good:

Your FP may refer you to a Sleep Study clinic - I was examined, and eventually had my tonsils and uvula removed surgically. It cleared my snoring for a couple of years, but it has returned again - I'm using the Snoreeze spray - use it about half an hour before you go to bed - it does reduce some of my snoring. I am due for another slep study, and I'll let you know what they decide this time.
