do people throw their rubbish out of car windows? Do any of you do this? I live on a fairly main rural road and each day have to clear my garden of coke cans, plastic bottles and food wrappers - not to mention the occasional disposable nappy and other unmentionables. I am not a physically fit person and also care for a disabled relative. It is not easy for me to clear this rubbishI can't believe that people that act in this way have any cares about anyone else except themselves. Why can't they do as others do and take their rubbish home to dispose of?

Sorry, I need to let off steam!!

if youve ever seen the inside of my car you'd realise that no-one in my family throws rubbish out of the window!
its not me, i dont drive
Sadly, it's all too common - in this day and age there is an inbuilt theory that someone else will always take responsibility for bad behaviour of any sort and also that rules don't apply to most of the population. Well, that's my theory, anyway......
it gets my goat, we have a fish and chip shop about 50 yards from my house and the amount of people that chuck a whole prtion with wrappers out of their car window in my street is phenomenal ( the chips really are awful). My ex ( avery angry man lol but on this occasion made me chuckle) and I were walking down the street when a car full of kids eating chips, chucked their wrapper right in our path, so he picked it up and chucked it back in the window.

I also hate it when people throw their cr@p in my garden, drives me nuts,
I've never been known to launch any wrappings, or assorted debris from car windows, but I have been known to eject apple cores into country verges at 60mph.
Its not just throwing rubbish out of cars that annoys me, throwing it on the floor anywhere makes my blood boil! i hate it!!!
From a car though the worst thing has to be selfish idiots who empty their ashtrays all over the pavements!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arghhhhhhhh
cliffsgirl you dont have to drive, I'd say more passengers chuck the rubbish anyway
Been pipped to the post by Goodsoulette and Unrulie, I know exactly how long it takes (in distance ) to eat a portion of chips and sausage from the local chippie. This is marked by chip shop confetti pushed into the hedge of some poor old lass who now hates everyone on the estate . We are now all just possible miscreants lol.

I truly hate those fools who tip their ashtrays out of their car door right where I am going to step in it wearing ,my lush, new, baby pink suede pumps grrrrrrrrrr!! Poor parent less prats!

Thanks all. Nice to know what caring people you are.

Supernick, apple cores are just fine. Nice to find another apple tree growing on the verge on in my garden anyway.
Oh you got me started now : I meet your chip litter and I raise you by chewing gum! too many expletives to expand further. I must go and make a herbal tea and phone my therapist ...

< puts on coat, still muttering under breath.>
I work with a fat slob who delights in throwing empty crisp packets and coke bottles from the van window

He knows it really annoys me and comes out with the pathetic excuse thats he`s keeping roadsweepers in work

One day he will either be caught by the police, shopped by a member of the public...or even a work colleague!!!!!
I live in a beautiful area, and I hate to see rubbish just thrown in the road, last year I was sitting down by the river with my mate, and a family were having a picnic,it was nice to see the kids playing etc, till they got up walked away leaving all the rubbish by the bank, I was bl00dy furious so a mate and I picked it all up, they were just going to drive off when my mate tapped on the window, the wife opened the window and I threw all the rubbish in her lap and we just walked away saying clear off and take your rubbish with you, it still makes me laugh now, dirty gits !!
My husband used to do this (he probably still does if I am not there) and we always ended up having an argument. I hate to see anyone do this but then I hate to see a car that is full of rubbish also. I don't even leave a car park ticket in mine. There is nothing worse than going out all dressed up and having to battle your way through debris on the floor.
I bet the rabbits get a bit confused by the taste of banana skins
We have 3 hedges TheGopher and it's the school kids who think our front garden is dumping their rubbish. We get chip paper, the cartons, coke cans and loads of sweet wrapper's. There's just 4 houses on our block and we all cop it.
I live round the corner from a sixth form college ..my front garden has an open drive and most of their rubbish is deposited in it and my neighbours as they walk past . Across from said college is a lovely park ..every day it is full of their fast food wrappers and empty drink bottles and God knows what else.At the moment it is half term and there is not a scrap of rubbish to be seen. They wander around eating stuff and then just discard the wrappings as they go.And it's not just youngsters either .I have seen adults do the same . I have another park dead opposite and parents take their children there have fish and chips or something and leave it all over the shop, when there are rubbish bins there for the use of..Not setting a very good example is it ? And don't get me started on the amount of rubbish people leave on our beautiful beach !
unfortunately, it is not just careless kids who do this - my 80 year old dad laughed his head off and sneered at me when i told him i didn't intend to throw the garbage that had been thrown into my garden into the alley "to teach the litterbugs a lesson(!)"

i told him the place was enough of a sh*thole as it is without me making it worse - and that i doubted the litterbugs would give a toss.
he said "they will if they have to step over it"
- i told him that is nonsense and i didn't intend to sh*t up the planet
- and he laughed his head off, saying "your bit of litter won't ruin the planet",
I of course said, "no, not mine on its own but if everyone just lobs everything all over the place it will"

so there is a definite lack of forward thinking from older people and a 'nimby' attitude.

i was disgusted with him.

he was furious that there was stuff in my garden but quite happy for it to be thrown about 2 ft to the left - as it was no longer anything to do with him.

if older people don't give a toss, how can we expect the next generation to grow up with some kind of sense of not littering and awareness.

i have watched the way some people drop litter - some are oblivious and their hand just opens and the rubbish just falls away - this shows not only lack of consideration, but a complete lack of any notion that they shouldn't do that, as though they have no idea its wrong ...others take a sneaky look around to make sure no-one is looking and shove the item a little bit away - this shows that they know they are doing wrong but simply don't care.

i am not sure which is worse.
Same here Shaney, We live opposite a park too,a lovely park but littered with the usual stuff. Parent's are afraid for their little ones as druggie's use the park at night and leave used syringes lying about not to mention the used condoms.
i do it all the time apart from when its my area i dont really care to be perfectly honest its up to the council to get off their well fed backsides and employ road sweepers :)
