Dangers of 'keeping it in.'
29 Answers
What happens if you keep it in over a long period of time... for instance, I deteste going to the loo at work. I feel REALLY bloated and I know I need the toilet, but I would normally just hold it until I get home at approx. 6pm tonight.
What are the dangers of doing this on a regular basis?
Many thanks!

I don't see how you can hold either of them in - what's wrong with your loo at work? The pain in your tummy if its a wee you need must be awful - and quite frankly if you get to the point of number 2s where the tortoise head is poking out - get in that bog quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only go for a 2 at home. number 1s i will go but if i can i hold it in for a while.
If im in a situation where i dont want to be rushing to the loo i watch what i drink, i know its unhealthy. For instance i have been on a flight to the USA (minimum 9 hours) 6 times and as yet i have never been for a wee on a plane.

regularly supressing the 'urge' can lead to a weakening of that urge, leading to constipation and all associated discomfort. also bear in mind that poo is waste product and full of toxins which can be reabsorbed back into the body. i am convinced that this is the origin of the phrase 'i feel like $hit'
People are so funny!!!!
I mean a no.2... the only one's I'll use in a public place is if there are no gaps in the doors or walls... and our toilets aren't like that... plus, all the people going in and out... what if they hear? I always flush the toilet first if someone comes in during a 'wee' anyway...
I'm going to skip lunch now though as I'm way too bloated... must be the cashew nuts I had for my snack.

I can't believe I'm reading these posts!! :-) I think it's mad that anyone would consider 'holding anything in' because of what someone else might think. If you're worried about the smell, take some air freshener to work. If you're worried about the sound (f@rting) then wait till no one else is in the room. If you're worried about the plopping (sorry to be graphic) pop some loo roll in the toilet first. It muffles it. If you're worried about germs, take some antiseptic wipes. Why on earth would you risk your health over this???
