I got woken up this morning to my 5 year old son in tears this morning because the cat had 2 holes in her head. I ran down the stairs thinking she had been knocked over but instead found her intact, very unresponsive and with 2 holes in her head that were filled with hollow plastic, I knes they were inbedded in her skull as they were indented into her head.

After a lengthy operation to remove more than a total of 5 of these pellets she should be okay.

Why? Why would anyone do this? The vet seems to think she was held down whilst she was shot. My blood is boiling over this.

That is awful! I have nothing to say! Poor little thing!!

I was watching 'Loose Women' once and Colleen Nolan was saying someone broke into her garden once and killed her rabbit! Literally mutated it and left it there for her children to find in the morning!!! Sick sick people!
Some people don't like cats. Perhaps your cat attacked somebody, I got attacked when I was a boy by a cat and I wanted to shoot that one as an act of vengeance. Couldn't do it now though. It's either that or it's just out of pure malice and you should get an airgun and shoot them, either that or file a report and when the police catch the likely suspects they might get done.
OMG that is so sick I just can't believe it!! Why on earth would some 'thing' do that to a defenceless cat???

I can't imagine how upset you are - I just hope that poor kitty is soon on the mend.

Big hugs to you honey xx
I blame our immigration policy.
Skreecheeboy, I've bitten by a rotweiller but I can't say it's ever given me the urge to pin one down and shoot it! There is a big difference between not liking something and deliberately causing it harm. Revenge attacks on a cat? Hhmm. More likely to be brainless thugs or even a pigeon fancier ( or whatever you call them) that thinks he has the right to protect his birds by shooting any cat that comes near.

Goodsoulette, I hope your son is ok and your pet recovers soon. Vet bills are horrendous, when my mum's cat was run over it cost nearly 400 to put him back together. Got to be done though.
That is just too awful, I'm just so glad your cat is alive and recovering, and made it back to you.

It's scary to think that this type of spawn is out there.
They are tomorrows murderers according to a profiling I have read on this type.

Please let us know how your cat is doing....

Sending You Lots of Love

Goodsoulette, Im a cat lover, always have been and, like other ABers I am speachless.
Hope your much loved family pet recovers.
They should be subjected to the same treatment!
Hope your cat recovers :-)
My cat was not so fortunate - I witnessed her being held by all four paws whilst her head was smashed off a car bonnet by a mindless moron, who laughed as I ran screaming towards him. She was 16 and had been lifted from my garden by him - probably started to make some attempt to free herself and he decided to end her life in the most traumatic and horrific manner possible to a defenceless family pet. My local police were not so understanding and did not respond to my telephone call - cat life not in anyway as important as human - yada, yada yada.
Anyway- that was over 4 years ago and it is still as vivid an image. It was a truly horrible experience and mercifully she died quickly in my arms - poor Jade.
Now have a dobermann - try that you F***wits.
:-( thats so sad. My friend lost her cat last year when a group of dick head kids strapped fireworks to him. :'-( she was so upset!!!
Too many parents give children air rifles when they are in no way responsible enough to own one. I don't really know what kind of mindset it takes to do something like that, and your son must be distraught poor thing. Lets hope that the kids are caught and punished appropriately.

I guess you've got to try and keep your faith in humanity though. Remember...
Thank goodness for the Good Souls that make life better
I just cannot put into words how I feel for your poor cat and how this may effect your son.....just hoping they both can get over this and that your little darling can make a full recovery.....Bless you all.
Yinyang, I didn't get my revenge and it was a monster cat that attacked me! It had attacked numerous neigbours, slinking up to people randomly and then if you tried to pet it, it would turn on you. I was so frightened by it that I hated cats for years after it did it. I was only about 9 when it happened and I would gladly have punished it with the air rifle my second cousing gave me but I wasn't allowed as my parents saw fit to ban me from using it after talking about killing the little bag of sh1t. As I said I wouldn't do it now but I think cat's should be given the same treatment as dogs if they attack without reason. Getting back to Goodsoulette's question, read what I said earlier about returning the pellets to their rightful owners or trying to get the police onside.
Sorry, skreechee, I'm not downing what happened to you. My dad's terrified of spiders cause one landed on his head as a child, and they're hardly vicious.
I agree that any dangerous animal has to be dealt with but to use their example of dogs, if a dog attacks somone there is a procedure to be followed and if deemed necessary, the animal should be humanely destroyed. People taking the law into their own hands leads to the kind of mob rule Joe is on about.
The point I was really trying to make is that this paritcular attack was unlikely to have been done by a traumatised child, more likely somone who is just bored with shooting tin cans.

Sorry, Goodsoulette. Just wanted to clear the air between myself and skreechee.
Couldn't agree more. I was just saying that there is a possible other explanation, I mean Goodsoulette's cat might be the cat from hell for all I know! But I will concede and say that I think it probably isn't, and it probably is just a bunch of ne'erdowells like you all say. In which case batter them, but not too hard coz it's only a cat, and it's still alive. I would give them a grade 3.6 on the battering rickter scale. Big enough to feel it, but not so big as it'll do any real damage. Well my cat is exceptionally placid, putting up with my 2 boys she has to be. I have never known her to attack anyone.

The vets have been wonderful, they have let Gizmo come home, but I have to watch her closely as she has had bleeding from the ears and nose. They barely charged me at all, as they were horrified at what has happened to her.

Thankyou for your kind words and Supernick that especially made me smile.

and I would like to add although It has made my blood boil I would like to see these guys just come and apologise to my son and explain why they thought it was fun!
The other day, I posted a question about Air Rifles, because a neighbour a few doors along to me had a air gun, I could hear them in the garden with it. I have 4 cats and I was worried they may have wanted to take a shot at one of mine. I cannot believe what someone has done to your cat. The Evil B******s, I hope you have some luck in finding the person or persons responsible and take some sort of action.
That has made me so upset and angry, I feel for you truly, why and how can people choose to pick on defenceless animals like this ? If it were me I would hold them down and shoot pellets into their skull !
Madness ! How can they call themselves human beings?
Im so sorry to hear of this Goodsoulette....let us know how kitten is doing in her recover....that it so so sad....

I imagine as the pellets were plastic it was not an air gun but a BB gun, Eastender.

Wardy that was how they appeared when in my cats head but it turns out they were indeed traditional air rifle pellets. The shots to her head at such close range were right between her eyes but just above and one on the very top really make me think they were trying to kill her.
