Back to dianette...
11 Answers
Hi all,
Just after a little advice, I have managed to get back on dianette after a three month brak on Brevinor which made my skin really bad!
Anyway, I am due to take my last pill on sunday for my seven day break. The nurse has told me to have my break still as normal then change to dianette, but reading the leaflet it says to not have my break.
I dont know what to do!! could anyone please give me a little advice
thanks guys x

I used to take it and due to neglect on the Doctors side (he kept me on it too long as you aren't supposed to take it longer than a few months) I ended up having two operations to get rid of breast lumps caused by Dianette.
It was actually banned a few years back......

Hi again, lauren!
I was also on it for about 3 years even though I had a review every six months. It was only after all that time that the nurse said it's not recommended anyone is on it for longer than six months because the chance of DVT is seriously increased. You should only be back on it if you really need it.
Talk to your GP, especially about when you should be starting it.

They have now changed the guidelines surrounding dianette. For women with PCOS and endometriosis its an excellent method of controlling your symptoms. It thickens the lining of the womb sio puts you at greater risk of cancers. Now you wont be able to use it for long periods of time, you will have to have breaks from it. Im not sure what you should do regarding taking the next pack, probs do as the nurse says, or phone her and double check.
hi whiskeysheri,
I do really need it!!! I cant cop with the spots when im not on it, although the nurse did have to ring the doctor and get his approval first, and he said he was fine with puttin me back on it, but I am only allowed six month this time. So i need to consider other option after the six month!!
I have been told yasmine's quite good, anybody knowanything about this pill??
xx

Hey Laurenm82, I was on Dianette for a while so was my best friend it was great for clearing up skin BUT i don't think it is worth it with all the health risks that can come along with it. Do you need to be on the pill? As if not, doctors put me on some skin tablets that completely cleared my skin but the only downfall is that it stops the pill from working, but if you dont need to be on the pill that might be a better option. I'd steer away from Dianette if possible, I won't even allow my friend to go back on it as it is quite worrying x
Hi freak unique!!
Yeah I use it as a contreception too, its the only one that actually clears my skin!!! I am aware of all the health risks that come with it tho! but at the moment it seems to be the only option as the spots are really getting me down.
i was prescribed brevinor three months ago by the famil;y planning only to find brevinor can actually make acne worse!! so my skin is worse than ever at the minute x
