Has anyone pulled the wool over your GP's eyes ie faked an injury or illness to get time of work.
I'm just curious as a friend of mine recently got put off for two weeks by his doctor, saying that he had fallen and injured his back, he said that its not the first time hes done this sort of thing.
back injury is the old chestnut a lot of people try it as its difficult to prove, i could get signed off tomorrow for 6 months with an itchy nose as my doctor would sign anything but i wasnt brought up that way i have to work id go mad otherwise or madder :)
I would have no trouble getting a fortnight's sick note off the doctor at the moment as i have a really painful back ache just above my pelvis and across the small of my back, i am strong painkillers and they are helping, but i am too busy at work and there is alot going on and so i can't take any time off. I have never even thought about it and i am genuinely in pain. Does your friend expect people at his work to do extra hours to cover his absence?
oooh i just couldn't do that laurence, I've maybe exaggerated a cold once or twice or used the old period pains excuse but I couldn't go as far as getting a sick note, I'm rubbish at lying and I'd feel too guilty :)
dont you hate it when people go into details about why they were off work ie when they had food poisoning and they go into the gory details instead of just saying they were ill?
Once i faked that i had broken my hand. Then the following day i went into work and had a nasty accident with the lift. AKA:got my hand trapped in the door and started going down with it and all sorts of mess. Won't share the rest as its a bit extreme.
Oooooooooooooh Bob, who is he????????? The favourite illness at work at the moment is depression. Just tell your GP you cant eat or sleep and you cry a lot! I couldn't lie to my doctor and wouldn't want time off work anyway!x
hi katie, that's exactly the problem we have at work - the thing is with depression is that you can always use it as a fall back excuse. One of my colleagues always uses it everytime something goes wrong at home: the boiler broke down - it's cost me a fortune to get it repaired - I'm skint - I have financial worries - I'm depressed - I've been signed off for 5 weeks :)
The company I work for help people on sickness benefits get back into work and some of the reasons our clients are signed off for is unbelievable :)
Sorry I'm ranting now but it infuriates me :)
cant tell katie :) depression is thrown about a lot these days ie "ooh my budgie died im depressed" i think anyone applying to go off sick should be up before a panel of 3 doctors who dont know the person if it is proved they are faking it then they are to be shot
