Evening , I was watching Schools Out this evening and they brought back a dear school master from one of the contestants past school days . She hugged him and was pleased to see him. Do you have an old school teacher who was your favourite and would like to see ?

Slightly different to your question but when my eldest daughter started school (which is my old school) she was taught by one of my old teachers, which I thought was quite nice. I work at the school too (cook) and still find it funny after 5 years to think the kitchen was one of the places we were never allowed to go in and now I spend most of my time there lol

Hi bigmamma,yep..I remember a history teacher in the early Sixties.(mr sanger).we called him sexy sanger,he always had his flies open.hehe..! but he was a lovely chap.every few weeks he would say bu66er the History and read us a really interesting story allways walking to the door to make sure nobody was coming. He looked like Mr pastry...the young one's wont have a clue whom Im talking about..(:O)
hi bigmamma, I went to school in the late 50s in the east end of london and most of my teachers thought they were something special as they lived in the nice countryside outside london and they treated us like urchins, the headmaster used to call us "guttersnipes". he only had one arm and had a bullet wound in the bum, from the war.( I wonder which direction he was going when he got shot), so no, no thank you, no hugs for any of them.

Hello bigmamma! We had a fanTAStic teacher in primary school, Miss King. I think it was 1976 when I was 7/8. She was quite young, and a bit mad! She was new to our school and we were her first class. She had clogs, stripy tights, floaty hippie skirts, fluffy jumpers and long hair. She taught us old folk songs (she kept time with her rhythm pole - a stick she'd nailed loads of jangly bells and bottle-tops onto), we did tie-dyeing and origami, grew lettuces, kept a tank of frogs that always escaped into our desks and did stuff that none of the other teachers would have thought of. Best of all was our Christmas play - all the other classes did the Nativity as usual, but we did a play based on the traditional Wassailers telling the Christmas story door to door and village to village.
I don't think anyone knew what to make of her, but we thought she was great!! I would LOVE to know what happened to her. Thanks for asking! xx

I was the closest to the tank, and shared a desk with Geraint (this WAS Wales after all!) I always checked my desk because they got down inside through the inkwell, so I was on the ball. Geraint, on the other hand, used to scoop them up and put them in desks that were the other side of the room. That caused a few screams, yes...!
Hi BM,i did have a favourite teacher and when we had a reunion i invited him.He showed up with some other teachers and it was a really great evening. He later sent me a lovely letter thanking me for asking him.He still teaches at the school and my daughter starts there next week so i hope to see him again.
I had some lovely teachers and some not so lovely ! I was saddened just a few days ago when I had a letter from my Old Girls association to say our old history teacher had died at the grand old age of 92. When I went to a school reunion a few years ago she was there and remembered us ! She was lovely and gave me a life long love of history. She didn't just churn out facts and dates. We did lots of field trips and she made it all come alive .
I had a superb art teacher who was very modern for her time in the early sixties ..she was the only teacher in the school apart from the men to wear (shock horror ) trousers ! Then there was the maths teacher who regularly threw the blackboard rubber at me for messing about .I hated him with a vengeance .
I loathed the needlework teacher who used to hit me on the knuckles with a metal ruler because I couldn't sew for toffee ..old cow ..and I still can't sew a button on !
Well I can ..but it won't stay on for long !

Hi bigmamma. I hated school and couldn't wait to leave. When I think of school I think of Annie Platt she was head of the girls and she floated down the corridors like dracula in her black cape, she had her hair scraped back into a bun and a pointy face with rats eyes. We all lived in fear and dread of her. Some of the things she did would mean imprisonment now. I forgot my geograpth homeworks once and she gave me the strap. One girl lost her navy blue knickers in the showers so we had to go one by one to her room to show her our name in our knickers. I am in my 50s now but still cringe at the thought of this woman. I hope she's dead.
Hi hau kola , what an evening that must have been , how lovely . Well , your daughter may get to be taught by him too then :-) x
Cazzz , how rotten for you , what a shame , as for naughty Miss Page , wouldn't take a leaf out of her book eh ? :-) x
Your History teacher lived to a good age Shaneystar . I just read in our local paper that my paediatrician has died , she was really special bless her.
Oh the board rubber hurtling towards the back of the room ...duck ....
I remember being the first female to wear trousers in junior school in one winter and there was an announcement in assembly to say that I was wearing them and from then the girls were allowed to .
I never got the cane , the ruler , or any punishment ........
......just give my halo a quick polish........but they certainly dished it out to the naughty ones.
Pussnboots love , hi , that she-devil sounds spooky , and so cruel too , glad I didn't know her. :-)

Hi, bigmamma!! I had a lovely teacher when I first started school - Miss Griffiths - she was so kind, especially as I was really upset on my first day! Then, we had Mr Edmunds, who was also lovely (I've still got my school photo), When I went to secondary school, my chemistry teacher was a Wales international rugby player and recently we've got back in touch. He's often on Radio Wales, talking about rugby and I sent an e-mail to them, just to say hello and glad to hear he was OK and I got a lovely e-mail back from him.
