smokers

after a thread about smokers driving.
do you ever get fed up with the way that the smokers whine on , or wheeze in some cases .
about their right to smoke?
well i do .
jeez its a combination of toxic chemicals that youre burning .
burn it elsewhere.
they litter streets with dog ends everywhere .
hang about in doorways like lost souls .
on a cold day it looks like a gathering of junkies all huddled and shivering.
smoking is antiscocial and is not nice .
as smokers in the uk are in a minority then why should they dictate to us nonsmokers?
i say do as youre told smokers or shut up.
whingeing and moaning ,
give us a break and some fresh air ffs

I find it annoying when friends who smoke have to go outside and miss out on conversations. OK, you may say that's their fault and they should give it up, but having been a smoker I know how easy it is to say that and how hard it is to do it. And having smoked myself for many years I would feel a right hypocrite preaching to them on the subject.

goody fair points.
saha and rabet etc .
i think that the tide is turning against smoking honestly.
as i said 27% of the population is quite aminority and with people actively trying to give up i think it will continue to do so.
rabet as yuore reformed that shows you realised the dangers not only to yourselgf but to others as well i would imagine .
you must accept however that a minority of the population cannot dictate to the majority can they?
and who does drop all these fag ends then?
you see doorways littered with them .
so where do they come from?

Thats bad business practice though, Leg! I have worked for 2 major pub chains and the big coffee chain and cigarette butts in the doorway would have lost me a bonus. Shops, pubs, cafes etc should be keeping them clean, and the area outside their establishment, even if their is no pavement cafe.
One of my friends has a little keyring ashtray. She hates fag butts on the floor that much. We were sat outside work and she was smoking and she was putting the the cigarette out under her shoe, when a female PCSO fined her. She showed her her ashtray which I can vouch she would have picked it up and put it in, and said I haven't finished putting it out, when I do Ill put it in here. he told her she could tale it up with the council, only to be told because she accepted it she had to pay the fine. 50 quid for a fag, after witnessing that, I would never ever put a fag out on the floor. The butt will remain in my hand tii it hits the bin.

It's never actually been proven that passive smoking leads to cancer.
Just thought I'd chuck that in there.
It's based on the likelihood.

I have not read the other posts here(too tired and lazy at the mo). ...but I will. But I have been reminded of a run-in I had several weeks ago with a severely chavvy, teenage mum...she was standing just within the confines of a bus shelter puffing away-not just into my airspace but-worse-that of her childs also. I waited a few minutes before asking if she could please smoke outside the shelter.....(stepping back so that she wasn't directly under the shelter roof)she then insisted that she was not "in" the shelter. She then jumped down my throat giving me a lot of flack about people like me taking smokers rights away......and if I didn't like it,why didn't I stand outside the shelter.!!! Obviously trying to reason with her and point out the damage it may do to her child had no effect. Her right to inhale carcinogens was greater than anyone elses right to breathe clean air! Stupidity and stubborness - a great combination.
