Which great Briton, who hasn't been represented with a major statue or monument, should be honoured?

Doesn't matter if they're alive or dead, but they have to be British either born, by marriage or a permanent resident.

And where should it be erected?

Is it ok if they are not Black or muslim or otherwise politically incorrect ?

lol@ that Doc Spock one ^^^

Ummm, well seeing as there's already one to the comic genius that is Eric Morecambe, I'd have to say one in Manchester (Collyhurst) of Les Dawson, who I still find hysterical

Any Briton, but they don't have to be white!
David Bowie AKA "The Thin White Duke" should have a statue erected in Brixton, his birthplace.

Not only will it show full respect to the greatest living Briton, but may also help race relations.
This was a tricky one as initially everyone I thought of had already been immortalized in statue

Joan Armatrading. Had a quick check and don't think she has been done yet.
Splat in B&S?? Whatever next? Gromit in Beauty? AOG in Relationships and Dating? NJOK in Animals & Nature?

What is the world coming to?!

To answer your question. Roald Dahl was my first thought but he was from Norway originally. He grew up over here though and stayed here so I'm not sure if that makes him a permanent resident.

I don't think Austen has a statue so I think I'd quite like her to have one too.

(I actually think I deserve one for services to drinking establishments in London. I've been above and beyond the call of duty in this regard).
The first name that comes to mind is Linford Christie, does he already have one though?

All very good answers.

If Jane Austen doesn't have a statue, then that's disgraceful. Really...I like Mansfield Park. It's kinda like the Heat magazine of the 19th century.

And then there's Dickens. Surely there should be a statue of him somewhere prominent in the East End of London?
Mansfield Park?! Well, I suppose it's not like we agree on music or films either. I change my favourite Austen novel all the time. At the moment it's Persuasion.

What about John Peel?
Does Spike Milligan have one yet?
Question Author
I think if you had one for Spike, you'd have to include the rest of the Goons.

I think that would be a good idea.
I think Spike is having one (if it isn't there already) in Finchley. He was a member of the Finchley Society..I think it was planned to have a statue of him sitting on a bench on the common.

However I do agree with you, sp. The Goons need recognition. Maybe Prince Charles needs a nudge in the right direction?
Do they have to be real?

Peter Pan has a statue so was just wondering if they have to be real people or could they be much loved fictional characters?

(Possibly from the planet thundera originally).
Anybody read about the Phantom Sculptor in today's paper? Somebody's been leaving stone heads outside peoples houses, with crytptic messages attached to them. Nineteen've appeared so far. Obviously the work of a practical joker - and actually, I wouldn't mind one myself! It'd look good on a stone plinth on the lawn!
Nobody's made a statue of me yet, although I've not really done anything very important to warrant one so how about this, make a statue of me and I'll do my utmost to achieve something worthwhile enough to have earned it. How about it?
