Cutbacks - less postmen, more for each to deliver.
change in delivery format - no longer 2, now just one where everything that is in has to go out.
More mail to deliver - especially junk.
and the last, some time ago they changed all the start times so we have to start an hour later. At my office, I amlucky if I get out by 9.30, and the last letter will still be about 1.00.
Some get there post early round here because spme go out and do a bit - probably the same all over.

Cutbacks...it's one of the reasons why the postal workers were striking. They now start an our later so the early start bonus is taken away. A small payment, but multiplied by all the postmen, the accountants at the top have deemed the overall savings enough to have them all start and finish later.
I miss the Sunday collections already.

I would love to know why it took a birthday card which I posted first class mail last Thursday , in time for the midday collection ,to arrive at it's destination only today ! It was well within the size and thickness which the Post office wish you to adhere to. This was from Norfolk to London .
I can sympathise with the postmans dilemma , the cut backs etc and put up with the deliveries coming later in the day ..but nearly a week for a card to be delivered which had a first class stamp on it ?
Our post comes at four in the afternoon sometimes !

Ours arrives around 10am in the week but the postman doesn't appear to work on Mondays. However on a saturday when we'd all like some sleep he arrives at 7am and because the caretaker doesn't work saturdays he rings everyones intercoms until someone lets him in. He is also incapable of noticing special or recorded delivery labels and just dumps them, unsigned, on the pile with everything else. Top class service round here!
