myhubby has credit card with halifax .we been having problems recieving statements the last few months dont know why but they have been very good and sorted everything without us being charged . this month again we didnt have our statment so we rang them up and they said a letter was sent on the 21st and they told us were overdrawn my hubby explained we cant be as we have summint like a 2800 limit and we owe around 970 . they explained they had sent a letter out with this months statement to tell us they were reducing ourlimit but in the meantime of them doing this we paid 100 quid onto the card which made it go over the limit they had reduced it too . now we have to ring themback up today and tell them and they will be able to up the limit to cover this soit shows were not overdrawn . Just so glad i didnt go shopping an dthe card wasdeclined what an embarrasement that would of been . can they do this its unfair this time of the year !!!
It is not at all unusual for the limit to be lowered. Barclays have done it to thousands in one foul swoop and don`t forget that they can also cancel your card completely as Egg did earlier this year to many trust-worthy but unsuspecting customers.
