What is the normal blood sugar reading for a healthy human?

I ask because my doctor is obsessed with blood sugar levels, cholesterol levels and blood pressure readings - I think there must be some financial gain for him in getting people on drugs for the above.
Your doctor may be looking at it that these levels are indications of current or potential problems and is trying to nip them in the bud and get them treated before they get worse.
Remember there is also Type 2 diabetes as well, more common in those who are overweight so rising blood sugar readings could indicate a potential problem there which early action could prevent a long term condition and most costly to the NHS.
Similar with high blood pressure and cholestorol.
I tend to have lower readings of blood sugar (about 4 I think) and blood pressure but not dangerously low.
I found someone on his way to going into a diabetic coma once and his blood sugar reading was 0.7!
