I had a really bad cold over xmas, and about a week after it went away I started getting a rumbling noise in my right ear. It kinda feels like a bubbling sensation, as if there's water in there, but comes with quite a loud rumble and makes the muscles around my ear contract slightly. It doesn't hurt, but is uncomfortable and getting worse as the days go on, its driving me insane!!
I've heard that it could be fluid on my ear drum from my cold, or the start of an ear infection. Do you think I should go straight to the doctors or maybe visit a pharmacy first to see if they can recommend some drops? (I'm asking as I generally have to wait a week for a docs appointment...)
I'm not an authority but it could be cattarh which is gathering and pressing on the inner ear. I'd certainly go to a pharmacist if not a doctor to have it checked.
i'd go to the doctor for them to have a look. I had the same thing a couple of years ago and I left it. I eventually was diagnosed with labyrinthitis and it took AGES to go.
I'm not saying it's the same thing, but, with your ears, you never know, so best to get checked out. Hope you feel better soon x
Almost certainly an effusion (fluid)...go to the chemist for a nasal decongestant spray which should open up the Eustachian tube and drain away the fliud.
