My sister.

My sister, who is 50, has bulimia. Which of course comes with depression. Usually it's under control. But something in the last 6 months or so has triggered it off & not only that.
She's drinking heavily, smoking pot continuously, gambling away the mortgage money & lying.
She lives 200 miles away but at least is with a good man who has told us all this.
She's not talking to him apart to say she's fine & for him to leave her alone.
What can we all do for her?

Someone needs to encourage her to seek professional help. She probably wouldn't listen to her partner, but hearing it from a family member could sput her into taking action. If not, then someone needs to have a word with her doctor for her, explaining everything that's happening. Counselling could be of benefit, but the woman has to want to help herself, and this might not be easy. Sometimes it's best not to tread carefully round the issues involved, but to point things out, in a black and white manner. Then all you can do, is be there to support her, and to find what help you can. Best of luck.
