jonah....plenty of time to diet AFTER your investigations.
Without them, ALL the above well intentioned answers are totally invalid.
Do it now.

I can recommend drinking an Actimel every day....
Dairy sometimes aggravates it Nosh!

Different things for different Peeps
i have suffered with this for years and would certinainly go along with the advice give above. Two things I have to watch are brown bread and porridge. But everyone is different and in time you will come to know what you can and can't eat.
I had the camera a few years ago. I have to say it didn't hurt, and it just felt strange rather than uncomfortable.
Ethel....did you keep the photographs ? LOL
I also had the camera a couple of years ago and as Ethel says it doesn't hurt more like uncomfortable and usually they will offer you some sort of sedation which helps.

Irratable bowls? Is this the disease rats pass on to humans when cooking?
I actually agree with squad. Doctors diagnose IBS when they have gone through their list of all other likely diagnosis that fit your list of symptoms.

It may be that you have something else.

I accepted the IBS diagnosis and made some changes to my diet and I found a massive improvement in the health of digestive tract.

Good Luck.

I have IBS and I cannot tolerate onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, processed food, coffee and most fruit especially banana's. its not all unhealthy foods thay trigger attacks

like ethel says you have to learn what sets you off, everyone is different
apparently mine is stress related but can't think why....

10:20 jonah.....unless you have been investigated by a Gastro-Enterologist including Colonoscopy, then do NOT accept the diagnosis of IBS.

---------------------------------SOUND ADVICE ^
around ten years ago aa good friend of mine was told he had IBS 8 months later he died of cancer aged 37 , sorry to be blunt but sqads advice is good advice.
quite right nokno......Bobby Moore was originally diagnosed with IBS and the general consensus appeared to be that with an early correct diagnosis he'd have been okay....
My uncle died two years ago from Bowel cancer, having first been diagnosed with IBS. By the time the cancer was detected, it had spread to his liver, and there was nothing more they could do.
