hi again gardenmad.
arthritis affects the weight bearing joints and is usually caused by wear and tear.
I take Glucosamine & Chondroitin for mine and it really helps. Takes ages to start working and you have to take it for 6 months + to get any effect but my arthritis has improve loads. I can walk better and have a lot less pain.

Thanks shabill for your post - I really would like to know more about the drat disease though, it really hurts, especially at night when in bed, and I can't get about like I used to - but there are worse things I suppose...
Aching muscles are a symptom of arthritis, it is caused by the fact that you are trying to compensate for the condition by unconsiously adjusting posture whilst moving ariubd, ie if you have pain in the hip you would walk, trying to shift your weight around so as not to use the painful bit. If you whatch peaople walking, you can notice some waggling or rocking from side to side with each step, this is charicteristic of someone suffering with arthritis in the hips and would likely put more strain in the leg muscles.

I get them both from Holland & Barrett as a combined product but you can also get them from Boots.
