Do you take your mates opinions? I mean if a mate tells you the truth no matter how much it hurts or might p1ss you off are you the kind of person to listen? Get snotty? Or pretend it hasnt upset you, then get the huff after whilst thinking about what they have said, even though it may be true. On the other hand do you always tell your mates the truth in a situation?

I value my friends opinions, even if it doesn't agree with what I want to hear or if it is different to mine. Depending on the situation I think friends can sometimes be more objective without being emotionally or otherwise involved, but I know they would support me.
I much prefer honesty from friends, whether it hurts at the time or not.I will listen to a friend's opinion, but not neccessarily agree with it.
I am brutally honest sometimes, which is why my sister won't take me clothes shopping with her any more. She hates being told that she is too old to wear the styles teenagers wear (she is 43 and looks it).
some truths are more important than others, but that doesn't mean it's okay to lie.

for example, it's not necessary to say "you've put on weight", but if you're asked.. behonest (and tactful!).

personally, I'd rather ask a friend who would always be honest with me than one who would say what they thought I wanted to hear.

I take it someone has upset you?
i'd rather hear what they really think than what they think I want to hear! my mates on the whole are pretty good, but apparently i'm the one everyone goes to when they want an honest opinion.....

I would rather here the truth from my best of friends but some mates just say stuff that they know will hurt. But no no one has upset. Its just a friend although not a close one keeps going on FB and talking about her partner, father to their 2 children soon to be 3. Lastnight she said she wanted him to leave and get out the house. She is always on there slating him and from what I see he really gives her alot. One minute she will be on there hating him and then on another status she'll be saying how she loves going shopping and spending his money. Lastnight I went on and told her I didnt think talking about it on a social website was fair on him, and how she wouldnt like it if she went on their and saw him writing things abut her, and that theres a time and place. She actually took it ok and said 'yes you are right I shouldnt have put it' but I'm still wondering if she is really going to take my advice or get annoyed that I said anything in first place
Time will tell 4get! I know what you mean though - sometimes people post the most personal of things that I don't think is really necessary
I wouldn't worry about it, 4get.. you've said your bit and it's up to her what she does with it.

If he saw these things he'd be so upset. All she says is how she wants to leave him all the time. I actaully told her I think she expects too much she took that pretty ok aswell. I wasnt trying to be nasty but I think she needs to know what some people think. I've even just said ok leave him then and then she says she cant afford to, she has no job and doesnt drive. So she isnt happy with him but is very happy for him to support her.
i think we must have the same mate 4get. Oneof mine has just found out she is pregnant and is constantly going on about it in FB, the whole relationship is being laid bare, her BF (well poss ex BF) is going nuts about it!

Cant be same friend as this boyfriend isnt on FB so doesnt even get to defend himself. Thing is my bloke is very good mates with him and I feel so sorry for him. After she said I was right she said she wanted to meet so she could explain all and then I could tell her what to do. I said I cant tell her but if she is putting everything on there all day everyday then she cant love him at all.
I thought is was a serious question 'till you mentioned facebook .... phew!

And I rushed here thinking I had a serious answer till I saw the name troll
If she wanted to leave him - then tell her to - call her bluff or tell her to shut up and grow up
lol

it's like being back at school - she said that ... he said
it's just so shallow ... if you fell face first in it you wouldn't drown.

why don't people just meet up like in the old days?
let's not and say we did
Question Author
devil I have said well leave then and as I said thats when she says she doesnt have anywhere to go and cant afford to. Which is what annoys me if she doesnt love him she is just using him for money.
Troll if I dont have time to meet with all the people I know on FB I'd not have any of the year to myself :-)
