Most painful thing ever
45 Answers
Having been sat on the toilet the last 5 days with food poisoning, I'm thinking of placing the accompanying cramps in my top 3 most painful things I've experienced in life so far. This is the current standing :
1. Cluster headache
2. Bowel cramps from food poisoning
3. Removal of packing from pilonidal sinus wound
What are other AB'ers experiences?

The cyst was OK, but it got infected and started making scar tissue which was sticking itself to the other fibres and muscles in the neck, so it had to be removed. The surgeon was zapping at it and cutting all the bits away, and even though I was under a local anaesthetic I could still feel quite a lot of pain. I could feel the thing burning and zapping away at the flesh. Presumably a local anaesthetic only stops 95% of the pain rather than 100% (which I didn't realise beforehand). When I had the stitches taken out a few days later, the GP commented that they were much longer than usual and that the incision must have been fairly deep inside the neck.
I once broke my nose quite badly playing football & had to have an operation to straighten it out etc. when I came out of the anesthetic my nose was packed with a bandage (on the inside) when they came to remove the bandage my nose was full of dried blood stuck to the bandage. By the time they had finished the top of my t-shirt was wet with tears.
Oh my, some of these things make me weep even to think about!
The worst for me wasn't childbirth, but a few hours after I started hemorraging and 5 or 6 doctors came into my room, one stuck her hand up there and started squeezing the heck out of my uterus, apparently trying to work out any blood clots. I almost passed out.
Then the whole month after delivery I couldn't walk upright, had to wear a diaper (so this combined with the walking made me look like a circus monkey!) After about 2 weeks my doughnut pillow broke so I took to sitting tilted on one buttcheek - ended up with a terribly painful coccyx for a few months. Developed killer hemorroids, and I would cry every time I had to look at my poor little vagina!
A friend of mine had a baby several months ago - she gave birth on friday, was back in school on tuesday and back to work that saturday (though I can tell you her kid doesn't see much of her even now)
